Congress Stock Trading Tracker
The latest stock trades disclosed by US senators and representatives, with the stocks they trade most and the members who file most often.
What are STOCK Act disclosures?
The Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act of 2012 requires members of the House and Senate to publicly report purchases, sales and exchanges of stocks, bonds and other securities worth more than $1,000, including trades by a spouse or dependent child. Reports must be filed within 30 days of learning of a trade and no later than 45 days after it.
Values are reported as dollar ranges rather than exact amounts. MetaCap collects the reports from the Clerk of the House and the Senate Electronic Financial Disclosure (EFD) system and links every trade to its original filing. This tracker is for research and transparency; it is not investment advice.

How Congress trading data works
- Where does this Congress trading data come from?
- Every trade comes from periodic transaction reports (PTRs) that members of Congress file under the STOCK Act. House reports are published by the Clerk of the House and Senate reports through the Senate Electronic Financial Disclosure (EFD) system. MetaCap reads these public filings and links each row to the original document.
- How quickly do members of Congress have to report a trade?
- The STOCK Act of 2012 requires members to report a transaction within 30 days of being notified of it, and no later than 45 days after the trade date. That is why a trade can appear on this page weeks after it happened. The "Days" column shows the gap between the trade and its disclosure.
- Why are amounts shown as ranges instead of exact dollar values?
- The disclosure forms only ask for a value range, such as $1,001 – $15,000 or $50,001 – $100,000. The exact number of shares and price are usually not reported, so MetaCap shows the range exactly as filed.
- Are these trades made by the politician personally?
- Not always. Reports cover assets held by the member, their spouse, and dependent children, as well as joint accounts. Where the filing says who owns the asset, the table notes it. Some accounts are managed by outside advisers.
- Which assets are included?
- Stocks, ETFs, bonds, options and other securities appear when they are reported. Listed stocks link to their MetaCap ticker page; other assets are shown by the name used in the filing.
- Should I copy trades made by members of Congress?
- This page is for information and research only and is not investment advice. Disclosures arrive with a delay, amounts are approximate, and a single trade says little about the reasons behind it.
